To coincide with Geneva Watch Days, Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud is pleased to present a new addition to the award-winning Chronomètre FB 3SPC collection. Housed in a contemporary black ceramised titanium case, the Chronomètre FB 3SPC.4-1 juxtaposes modernity and artisanal craftsmanship. It features vertically satin-finished bridges, sandblasted movement surfaces and a black fabric strap, all serving to accentuate its contemporary spirit.
Appearing at 9 o'clock, the three main escapement organs – the balance-wheel, pallet-lever and escape-wheel – are thus individualised, distinct and prominent. This ample space dedicated to the regulating organ enables its operation to be admired in full, and the cylindrical balance-spring to be seen beating throughout the three-day power reserve, including through a large water-resistant porthole created in the case middle.
Its round case, available in 18-carat rose gold, recalls the curves of pocket watches from the early 19th century, such as the decimal watch No. 26, made in 1793 by Louis Berthoud™ and now on display within the Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud heritage collection in Fleurier.
The nickel silver movement is enriched with eight forms of decoration, namely bevelling, black polishing, circular finishing, open polishing (for the jewel and screw sinks), sandblasting, satin-finishing, softening and stretching. For several components, decoration begins with the sandblasting of surfaces before additional finishes are applied.
The Chronomètre FB 3SPC, the multiple award-winning wristwatch is now available in a new monochromatic execution, uniting a rose gold case with a nickel silver movement. The subtle arrangement of similar shades imbues the model FB 3SPC.2-1 with a classical mien and was officially unveiled to mark the opening of Art in Time Tokyo.
